Digital Transformation Intelligence (DTI) – Okta Integration Setup Guide

Last Updated February 14, 2022

Brief Overview

Integration with Okta allows you to receive information about your app & user usage. It allows you to discover all SaaS applications used by your organization which are authenticated via Okta as an engagement data service. This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to successfully integrate Okta with WalkMe Digital Transformation Intelligence.

In order to complete the integration with Okta, you will be required to provide the following information in the inner integration page:

  1. Okta Domain
  2. API Token

How It Works

Find your Okta Domain

To find your Okta Domain, you will have to sign in to your Okta organization with your administrator account.

Look for the Okta domain in the global header located in the upper-right corner of the dashboard.

Your Okta domain should look like the following:

Create an API Token

Please note: Okta API tokens are used to authenticate requests to Okta APIs, therefore they require Administrator permissions to create them.

To create an API token, please follow the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your Okta organization as a user with administrator permissions and click on “Admin” – This will open a new window
Note: API tokens have the same permissions as the user who creates them, and if the user permissions change, the API token permissions also change.
Therefore, we recommend creating a token in the context of a special service account to ensure it has the minimum required permissions. As of now, we require read only access for the following information:
    1. View users
    2. View applications or application instances
    3. View System Log
  2. In the left side menu, click “API” from the “Security” drop down menu to access the API page
  3. Go to the “Token” tab, and click “Create Token
  4. Name your token and click “Create Token
  5. Click on the Copy icon to copy the token value to the clipboard
Note: we recommend recording your token value, as it will be your only opportunity to see and record it. Once you click “Ok, got it” you will not be able to see your token again.
