SAP Concur UI Updates (Summer 2024)

Brief Overview

Starting summer 2024, SAP Concur is launching a refreshed home page experience on the web that features an intuitive design and user-friendly navigation. Users will benefit from the following:

  • A refreshed, modern design

  • Simplified navigation

  • Streamlined user workflows to facilitate faster completion of tasks

  • Improved scalability, performance, and responsiveness

  • An aligned user experience across SAP products

Changes

Variation 1: Home page updates

The first variation is comprised of changes made to the home page on the structure level. These changes are seamless to the end users. The homepage in both variations will look the same:

However, inspecting elements on the page will show differences in structure on the HTML level.

For example:

Old UI:

New UI:

This variation has been rolled out gradually for all Concur instances, and is mostly complete.

Variation 2: Updated user experience

The second variation of the new home page is visibly different.

Old home page experience:

New home page experience:

This new home page will become available:

  • August 2024 - Opt in (users can choose to use it)
  • October 2024 - Default (everyone will get it with an option to opt out and roll back to the old home page)
  • January 2025 - The only home page. The old home page will be retired.

Updated Trip Planner

The trip planner module is also getting an update.

Old trip planner:

New trip planner

The updated trip planner is being gradually released, but not on the same cadence as the updated home page.

How WalkMe Adapted to These Changes

  • Updated DeepUI element to ensure full support for all three home page variations

  • Updated DeepUI element to support corresponding fields in the two trip planners

  • Created adaptive flows

Adaptive flows:

The old home page design had two buttons to create a new report and a new invoice.

However, in the new home page design, these are now under one Create button, which opens a submenu.

We have therefore created an adaptive flow to ensure that captures of both these variations would work for both variations.

For example, if a builder has an existing capture of the Start a Report button, this would not be transformed to an adaptive flow that will first auto-click the Create button in the new UI, and then find the Start a Report sub-option.

This is what the step would look like in the editor:

This is a video of what it looks like for the user:

We have released these updates so that all existing and future DeepUI captures will work for all states seamlessly.

Important to know

This only applies to DeepUI captures. Legacy captures and jQuery based content may not work between the different interface variations.

Tips for Builders

We advise builders to:

  • Look for content on the home page which is jQuery based and recapture to utilize DeepUI

  • Perform spot sanity tests when moving to the new home page

  • Use the Builder Assistant to report any unexpected behavior (the Assist Me button)
