Logging In to Mobile Workstation

Last Updated June 17, 2024

Brief Overview

This article will guide you through the login process for the Mobile Workstation application. Our step-by-step walkthrough will make logging in quick and easy, whether you're a new user just getting started with Workstation for the first time or you want to connect your device to an existing workstation account.

By connecting your devices, all of your integrations and settings from your Workstation account will transfer. However, if you choose to continue without connecting, all the integrations will transfer to the new mobile device, but will be disconnected from the original one.

Getting Started

This is the first step for logging in to Mobile Workstation. In order to connect other devices, you must initially log in using your work email before you are able to connect other devices.

To log in with work email:

  1. Click Sign In with Work Email

    1. Alternatively, you can click the Google or Microsoft icons to auto-fill your email

  2. Type your email address

  3. Click Next

  4. Done!

Connect Your Devices

After logging in, you may notice that your integrations are disconnected. If our system detects that another device is connected your account, you'll have the option to connect your devices to enable your integrations.

In this scenario, a notification will appear on your screen, prompting you to connect your devices.

  • Click Connect

After clicking connect, you'll be guided to two different scenarios.

  1. Login with Salt: You will be prompted to enter a verification code and sync immediately with your other device

  2. Login without Salt: You will be shown a list of other devices and must choose a device to connect with before continuing with entering a verification code

What is Salt and why does it change the login process?

Salt is a unique token used in the encryption process to protect sensitive data, such as access tokens, that adds an extra layer of security to your data. It is generated using your private key stored locally on your device, which ensures that only you can access your data and prevents unauthorized access. When you give consent for an application to access your data, a verification code is sent to your device to ensure that it is really you giving the consent.

In order to enable access to integrations from multiple devices, the salt key should be transferred between devices. Devices which hold the salt key will be enabled to connect automatically skip to the verification code step, while devices that don't hold the salt key will have to manually connect to other devices before accessing the verification code.

Login with Salt

  1. Type the 6 digit verification code on your device

    1. Alternatively, you can scan the QR Code to sign in

  2. Done!

Login without Salt

  1. Click Connect on the device you would like to connect with

  2. Click Next

  3. On your connected device, go to Settings / Preferences page
  4. Select Connect Another Device

  5. Type the 6 digit verification code

    1. Alternatively, click Scan QR Code on Mobile and scan the QR code from the connected device

  6. Done!

Continuing without Connecting Devices

If decide that you don't want to connect your devices follow this process.

  1. Click Continue without Connecting

  2. A confirmation screen will appear

  3. Click Acknowledge and Continue

Important Considerations

If you continue without connecting, your third-party integrations on your existing Workstation devices will be disconnected, requiring you to set them up again as if starting from scratch.

However, if you prefer to start fresh on your current device and later connect it to another Workstation device, you can do so by accessing the Settings & Preferences page.
