Desktop/Mobile Menu – Workday Integration

Brief Overview

Workday is an American on‑demand (cloud-based) financial management, human capital management, and Student information system software vendor.

Requires admin configuration

This integration requires configuration from your organization's WalkMe admin. If you're the admin, see the Configure an App in Workday for menu section of this article for instructions.

Use Cases

Homepage widget

Access your open Workday tasks directly from the desktop/mobile menu, using the My Workday Tasks homepage widget.

Search for colleagues and access their Workday profile from the desktop/mobile menu.

Organization Chart

  1. Click the Team button from a Workday search result to open the organization chart
  2. Click on the employees in the chart to display their details, manager, and team members
  3. Copy or send email

Security Overview

All desktop/mobile menu requests are protected by a JWT validation.

  1. Sign in into Workday with an admin access user.
  2. Search for “Register API Client” in the search bar.

  1. Enter the Register API Client task that was found in the search.
  2. In the Register API Client, start filling the fields according to the following-

3. Click OK to register the API client

    • Don't close the page after doing so, since the Client Secret is only visible once

4. Copy 5 parameters from this screen - 

      1. Client ID
      2. Client Secret 
      3. Workday REST API Endpoint
      4. Token Endpoint
      5. Authorization Endpoint

5. Click Done

6. Login to the WalkMe Console to configure the parameters copied from Workday 

7. To view this API client in the future, search for 'View API Clients' and access that report-

Installing Workday on the Desktop/Mobile

  1. Navigate to the menu Integrations page in the WalkMe Console:

    1. US Database:

  2. Find Workday and click Setup

  3. Populate the fields:

    1. Click the Display tasks homepage widget toggle to enable the widget in desktop/mobile menu

  4. Click Save and Enable

Connecting Workday on the desktop menu

  1. Open the desktop menu by clicking the widget (on Windows) / the WalkMe icon (on the Mac Menu bar), or by hitting ctrl/cmd+shift+E

  2. Click the Settings icon on the bottom-left corner

  3. On the Integrations tab, click Connect on the Workday card
