How It Works

Set in-app guidance conditions

Use Switch to Frame rules to define when a Smart Walk-Thru plays in-app and specify which application it targets. Once you define these rules, all subsequent steps in the Smart Walk-Thru appear inside the specified application.

Set a rule for in-app playback:

  1. Select Set Condition
  2. Select App in Focus
  3. Choose the identification method:
    • ProcessName: Options include Any Process Name, Process Name Is, Process Name Like
    • AppTitle (optional): Options include Any Application Title, Application Title Equals, Application Title Like

Note

All subsequent steps in the Smart Walk-Thru will appear inside the defined app.

Example

Configure balloon appearance

Define how popups appear within the application window to match your UI.

  • Location settings: Determine if the balloon appears inside or outside the application boundaries
  • Size settings: Adjust the balloon dimensions to fit the application UI
  • Boundary control: All content remains within the application window boundaries

Best practices

  • Keep content within application boundaries to prevent clipping
  • Match resizing and dragging behavior to Desktop Guidance for SAP standards
  • Ensure balloons move dynamically with the application window
  • Use Process Name Is for the most reliable targeting

Find the process name

  1. Open the Windows Task Manager
  2. Press CTRL + Shift + ESC on your keyboard
  3. Locate the application and copy the process name from the Name column

Find the application title

  1. Open the desktop application
  2. Copy the exact application title written in the top title bar

Stop playing in-app guidance

In-app guidance stops when an App Not in Focus rule is applied to the Switch to Frame step.

  1. Select Set Condition
  2. Select Add Rule
  3. Select App Not in Focus

Note

Any popup steps that follow will play as usual (not in-app).
