Install WalkMe for Salesforce Classic
Let's Get WalkMe to Your Users!
WalkMe is made available to your users via a browser extension. Once the WalkMe extension has been downloaded, your published WalkMe content will immediately be accessible and WalkMe will begin collecting data. To deploy WalkMe for Salesforce Classic we recommend pushing it out via a Mass Installation. Alternately, you can ask users to download the extension themselves.
Option #1: Mass Installation (Recommended)
The recommended method of deployment is mass installation of the browser extension for all your Salesforce users. Mass Installation means users don't need to do anything themselves which saves time, reduces troubleshooting, and ensures they start seeing WalkMe right away. Mass Installation is quick and easy for your IT team to deploy. Read more about the Mass Installation project scope.
To push out a mass installation to your users, your Account Manager will provide a link to the Deployment Guide. The Deployment Guide guides you through installing, enabling, and configuring the WalkMe Extension. This process will need to be repeated for each OS and browser on which you would like to deploy WalkMe. The mass installation should be performed by your IT Team or System Admin.
Option #2: Manual Installation
Not able to push out a mass installation? Instead, have yours users individually download the extension on their computers. Provide the download link in one of two ways:
Your Account Manager will provide you with a link to download. Just send out an email to all your users (here is a template email we've created for you!). The email template includes easy step-by-step directions for your users to download the extension in just a couple minutes. This email can be sent by anyone in your organization.
If you think personnel may disregard an email, you can add a call-to-action banner on Salesforce that will enable your users to download WalkMe with just one click. Adding this button will have to be performed by your Salesforce Admin.

Here's a summary of the directions in the video:
First, download the Package for your Test and Production environments. Learn how here.
Then configure the banner to appear in Sales:
- Click + in the Salesforce Navigation menu
- Click WalkMe Extension Configuration
- Enter Customer Name, Extension GUID, and Extension Profile (provided by your AM)
- Click Submit
- Select the user groups which you would like to see the banner
- Click the Home tab
- Click Setup
- Click Develop to expand
- Select Visualforce Pages
- Click Security next to WM_EXT_IFRAME
- Add user groups which you would like to see the banner to the enabled column
Choose which pages the sidebar will appear on:
- Open Setup
- Click Customize
- Click Customize your User Interface
- Check “Show Custom Sidebar Components on All Pages”
- Click Save
- Click Home
- Click Home Page Layouts
- For any of the pages on which you want WalkMe to load: Check “Activate WalkMe Extension”. This will cause the extension to appear on the page Click Edit next to the page. Click Next
- Click Save
Now the banner will appear to your users and they can click Activate Now to download the extension! If you would like a custom image to display instead of the default one provided, talk to your Account Manager.
