Workday®: WalkMe App Not Finding the Right (Or Any) Element? (Find Element Issues)

Last Updated January 29, 2022

Brief Overview

Sometimes you will find that a WalkMe app is not locating the correct (or any) element. This is most commonly caused by elements being changed in new Workday® version releases, or by the chosen element having had a low grade to begin with. Elements may also change based on tenant configuration or process variation by role or location.

This article is meant to guide you through troubleshooting issues with WalkMe for Workday® Find Element.

Potential Solutions to Find Element Issues

If the element is found:

  1. If the score is low you can:
    • Re-select the same element;
    • Select a similar element (narrow/expand the selection).
  2. If the score is high then the issue is probably caused by the page changing (opening a form for example) which may cause the element to change and then not be found. In this case you should try the following:
    • Check the precision and/or custom trigger on the previous step; it may be that this step is the one that actually fails if the element changes during a page change before it was properly triggered;
    • Ensure that the precision is set to "Medium" (the default precision setting).
