Disabling WalkMe

Last Updated May 20, 2026

Brief Overview

You can temporarily disable WalkMe from loading on a specific environment without removing the snippet from your site. This is useful when you need to pause WalkMe for maintenance, testing, or any other reason.

For Snippet and Extension Deployments

  1. Go to Settings in the WalkMe Editor
  2. Select System settings
  3. Go to the Snippet tab
  4. Select the environment you want to disable WalkMe from using the Environment dropdown
  5. Turn off WalkMe Enabled

6. Select Publish settings

WalkMe will be disabled from that environment until you turn it back on.

Note

This doesn't apply to self-hosted environments. To disable WalkMe on a self-hosted environment, remove the self-hosted files.

For Extension Deployments Only

For extension deployments, you can also disable the extension package in the admin settings in the WalkMe Console. This prevents the related snippet from being injected but doesn't disable the snippet itself.
