How to Disable WalkMe?

Last Updated January 21, 2024

Question

How do I disable WalkMe?

Answer

Snippet

Rather than removing the snippet from your website's HTML, follow these instructions below:

  1. In your Editor, click on the settings icon on the top right corner
  2. Select System settings
  3. In the Snippet tab, you'll see a toggle for enabling/disabling WalkMe

This will also help in instances where you are unable to remove a mass deployed extension from your machine but you would like to turn off WalkMe for the time-being.

This will have the effect of temporarily disabling WalkMe from your environment, until such time as you choose to re-activate it.

Extension

Users that have manually installed the WalkMe Extension can uninstall the extension by following these browser-specific instructions.

Chrome
  1. Right-click on the WalkMe icon in the top right corner of your browser (it will look like a blue circle with 'me' in the middle)
  2. Select "Remove from Chrome"
Edge
  1. Right-click on the WalkMe icon in the top right corner of your browser (it will look like a blue circle with 'me' in the middle)
  2. Select "Remove from Microsoft Edge"
Internet Explorer
  1. Click on the gear icon in the top right corner of your browser
  2. Select Manage Add Ons
  3. Find WalkMe Extension
  4. Right Click on it and click Disable
Safari
  1. Choose Safari > Preferences, then click Extensions.
    • To turn off an extension, deselect its checkbox.
    • To uninstall an extension, select the extension and click the Uninstall button. If you can't determine what an extension does, or you don't expect to use it again, you should uninstall it.
Please Note:

  • You will likely not able to uninstall a mass deployed extension as your company has deployed this to your machine
  • If you are unable to uninstall your WalkMe Extension, please contact your company's IT department
