How to Install the Salesforce Package

Last Updated March 9, 2026

Brief Overview

The WalkMe Salesforce Package allows you to leverage powerful sfVars to segment content for specific user roles and profiles. By installing this package, you ensure that the right users see the right guidance at the right time, accelerating your time-to-value across your organization.

How It Works

Once you download the package, provide your Salesforce Admin with WalkMe Editor access so they can configure the package. The following permission sets should be granted:

WalkMe End User Permissions

  • Grant this to any user consuming WalkMe services
  • Exposes Salesforce data, for example, Role and Profile, for segmentation

WalkMe Admin Package Permissions

  • Grant this to the Salesforce administrator configuring WalkMe
  • Provides access to Call-To-Action banner definitions

Step-By-Step Instructions

Install package

  1. Download the Salesforce Installation Package for your Test and Production Environment
  2. Log in to Salesforce with an administrator account
  3. Select which users can access the WalkMe Setup page (recommended for All Users)
  4. Click Install
The latest version is 2.84

Configure package

After installation, navigate to WalkMe Setup in the Salesforce Apps menu. While most setups require no further changes, you may configure the following:

WalkMe Extension Configuration:

  • Use this to set the download URL for the Install WalkMe extension tile
  • Skip this step if your IT team mass-deploys the extension

WalkMe Setup / Advanced:

  • These sections are deprecated and do not require configuration

Clickjack protection

For sfVars to function in Lightning, the vf_WalkMeSfVars page must be available to all relevant profiles. To ensure sfVars are retrieved correctly, verify your Clickjack Protection settings:

  1. Navigate to Setup, Security, then Session Settings
  2. Locate the Clickjack Protection section
  3. Ensure the setting Enable clickjack protection for customer Visualforce pages with headers disabled is unchecked

Trusted domains

If your security policy requires you to enable Clickjack Protection while using sfVars, your Salesforce admin should add the following domains to the Trusted Domains for Inline Frames list in Setup, Security, then Session Settings:

After adding those sites, you will have the clickjack checkbox and still be able to pull sfvars.
