Search Ranking

Search Ranking allows your users to find the Walk-Thrus they need when you add a searchable description and keywords. By using Search Ranking you can ensure that users will have greater access to more items in the menu, potentially reducing the number of calls to support.

The Short Version

After creating your Walk-Thru and before publishing, consider adding keywords and descriptions to make your Walk-Thru easier to find. Adding descriptions and keywords to your Walk-Thrus is a key component to ensuring that your users are able the find what they need when using WalkMe on your site. When you add descriptions, they will appear in the Player Menu under the title of each Walk-Thru, which makes it easier for users to know which one they need, and WalkMe will scan it as well as the title when users conduct a search. To make your Walk-Thrus even easier to find, add keywords as well. These are words that users might think of regarding their specific need.

Use Cases for Search Ranking
  • If you have a Walk-Thru for employees to request leave, users might search for Vacation, Sick, or PTO
  • If you have multiple Walk-Thrus about how to pull reports, users might rely on descriptions to find the specific one they need

How It Works

When users open the Menu and type into the Search box, WalkMe checks the titles of items first, and then the descriptions. If there are keywords associated with any of the items, those will be checked as well. The results are displayed in order of relevance.

You can access the Search Ranking page from the Settings of your Walk-Thru.

Description: Type any descriptive text that will help users to understand the benefit of each Walk-Thru.

Keywords: Choose keywords that are not found in the title or description to make searches more effective for users. To add a keyword, type a single word and click Add, or press Enter after each.

Try it Out

Open up your Walk-Thrus, and add descriptions to make it clearer what users will accomplish. In addition, add any keywords that are not found in the title or description but are words that users might type to locate what they need. Once you’ve made any changes, don’t forget to re-publish the modified items. Open the WalkMe Menu and perform a search to test out your description and keywords.
