An onboarding task appears grayed out and users can't interact with it.
An onboarding task appears grayed out when its activation rule hasn't been triggered yet. Users can't interact with it until the activation rule is met.
Activation rules control when an onboarding task becomes available in the menu. Use them to make sure tasks run in a specific order, set up the same way as any other rule in the condition builder. If you leave the activation rule blank, the task is available from the widget at any time.

Here's a quick example of how activation rules work. Say you're building an onboarding task to walk users through a checkout experience — selecting a product, going to checkout, and placing an order.
The onboarding task is linked to a Smart Walk-Thru that guides users through the checkout form and prompts them to select Place Order.
There's a catch: users can't reach checkout with an empty cart. Using an activation rule, you can make sure the task stays inactive until at least one item is in the cart. For example, you can set the rule to activate the task only once the cart contains one or more items.
Once a user adds an item to the cart, the task becomes active and they can complete their onboarding.
