You're trying to select an element in the WalkMe Editor but something is preventing it. There are three variations of this issue — identify which one applies and follow the relevant steps.
If you see the error "Cross domain recording is not possible due to security issues," your account hasn't been set up for cross-domain capturing. Reach out to your Customer Success Manager or WalkMe contact to request this.
This can happen on single-page application (SPA) sites. Use the Auto Detect feature on the Single Page tab in the editor to confirm the correct SPA settings are configured.
If the SPA settings are already correct, try refreshing the page and the editor, or restarting the editor.
To rule out an issue with the editor itself, try building on another site — like Wikipedia — using the same editor. If it works there, the issue is with the site.
Check the following:
If the highlighter isn't appearing anywhere, the issue is likely with the editor itself. Try reinstalling or updating the editor.
If you're targeting an element that spans the full height or width of the browser window — such as a side panel, sticky header, or full-screen overlay — the capture tool may appear behind or outside the visible area.
