SmartTips or Launchers Not Appearing

Issue

SmartTips or launchers appear in play mode in the editor but don't appear in the live environment after publishing.

Solution

Checking segmentation

Check that any segmentation rules on your launchers or SmartTips evaluate as true for the page where you want them to appear.

  1. Go to the Appearance Conditions tab in the launcher or SmartTip settings
  2. Review any rules that have been set and confirm they apply to the correct page
  3. Check if any global segment tags have been set

For SmartTip sets, check the SmartTip Set Settings for any additional rules that control which page the SmartTips appear on.

Segmentation

Checking element behavior

If the element your launcher or SmartTip is connected to isn't visible on page load, or if the page takes a long time to load, WalkMe may stop searching for it before it appears.
To fix this:

  1. Go to the Advanced Settings tab in the launcher settings
  2. Turn on Appears and disappears as a result of user action

This keeps WalkMe searching for the element even after it's been found once.

Note

Unless you're dealing with a specific edge case, the Automatic option is recommended.
