How to Use the DAP Blueprint

Last Updated August 12, 2026

Brief Overview

The DAP Blueprint is WalkMe's self-service playbook for best practices and activities to scale your Digital Adoption strategy.

Use these articles with the Champion Toolkit in the WalkMe's Community for a comprehensive set of checklists, example Standard Operating Procedures, calculators, and editable decks.

This article covers when in your DAP Journey to utilize the DAP Blueprint and what outcomes you can expect when actioning on its recommendations.

Phases of the DAP Journey

Achieving Scale Through Habit Stacking

The concept of habit stacking is proven to help new behaviors stick. It involves"stacking" a new behavior you're trying to adopt, on a current behavior you already do.

The image below shows critical Phases and Milestones in the DAP Journey. The start of each Phase represents starting to incorporate (or "stack") a new set of habits into your Digital Adoption Strategy. Habit Stacking helps your Digital Adoption Strategy stay dynamic and adaptable.

When To Use the DAP Blueprint

If you are live with WalkMe on at least one software application, you have already completed at least one phase of Deployment and Implementation. You are also progressing through Resource Optimization and Adoption.

Once you have completed critical activities in Deployment and Implementation and Resource Optimization and Adoption, you are ready to begin Project Governance.

The DAP Blueprint is designed to help you scale your strategy through the following phases: Expansion Approval, Project Governance, and Program Governance.

See Critical Activities in the DAP Journey (below) for more information on all phases, and links to relevant tools to help you execute.

A note on the importance of Executive Sponsorship

An understanding of how Digital Adoption is impacting your business, is a critical step in scale.

Adoption conversations should happen early and often in the DAP Journey. Assessments of Digital Adoption impact should be completed continuously as you move through cycles of Deployment and Iteration and Resource Optimization & Adoption phases.

The above visual notes Expansion Approval as a critical milestone before starting the Program Governance phase. If Digital Adoption is aligned to strategic objectives and showing directional impact, executives will provide Expansion Approval:

  • Increased Executive Sponsorship
  • Adding people to your DAP team
  • Elevation of Digital Adoption as a business need

A story of Digital Adoption impact is only as strong as the buy-in from your Executive Sponsors. Work with your WalkMe Success team to create a business case that resonates with your leadership.
